No problem, some basic information in a nutshell and you can proceed to compare advertising monitors.

  • In principle, it is not important which brand of advertising screens you choose. If it is a product called ‘digital signage’, you can be sure that it will be equipment prepared for continuous operation, automated in terms of switching on / off and will not be subject to the obligation to pay an RTV subscription.
  • The advertising screen of a shop window exposed to the outside should be about 2500 nits. Advertising screen for standard internal use, the parameter 350-700 nit will be sufficient.
  • The size of the advertising screen is adjusted to the distance from which this screen will be viewed
  • On the market we will find advertising monitors with continuous operation modes 16 or 24/7
  • In most cases, Full HD resolution is sufficient for standard advertising needs for monitors up to 55”
  •  In order to choose the most effective advertising monitor for your business, we suggest three ways: contact a specialist, fill out the valuation configurator or familiarize yourself with the advertising monitor comparison engine.

And for the persistent, extended version, I invite you to read!

Advertising screens and brand – which one to choose?

Let’s start with the fact that a professional advertising screen, for a layman, is simply a TV and the differences between model A and B are basically the size of the matrix.
Unfortunately or fortunately, this is not the case.

LCD advertising screens can be divided into two large groups

1. Monitors with built-in player and content management software
2. Monitors requiring an external player and remote content management software

Of course, the latter group also has built-in content management software. However, its limited capabilities mean that as integrators we do not treat these programs as a full-fledged recommendable solution.

Each of these solutions has its pros and cons. A common feature for professional advertising

monitors is that each of the leading manufacturers offers really, very good equipment. Interestingly, it is basically not important which brand you choose. If it is a product called ‘public display’, ‘commercial’ or “digital signage” , you can be sure that it will be equipment prepared for continuous operation, automated in terms of switching on / off and will not be subject to the obligation to pay an RTV subscription.

It can also be assumed that the 43” advertising monitor of manufacturer A will have almost identical housing sizes as the 43” advertising monitor of manufacturer B. From my experience, it is also very often the case that manufacturer A has the same matrix parameters as manufacturer B, if we are talking about equipment from a similar class, i.e. 24/7 mode of operation, service life 50,000 h, IPS matrix, viewing angles at the level of 178 degrees…

Each manufacturer offers a range of products for various applications, e.g. internal monitors

with standard brightness, internal monitors with increased brightness, display screens, outdoors monitors  video walls and other digital signage.

It all comes down to choosing a software and integrator that has its own unique way of operating.

What parameters to pay attention to when choosing an advertising screen?

Each electronic device is a set of parameters crucial for efficient functioning. In the case of advertising monitors, this is the brightness, size, time and orientation of work, viewing angles, matrix resolution, etc. The most important of them will be described by me.

Matrix brightness – a key parameter

This is not obvious, but the first key parameter is the brightness of the advertising screen matrix..

If our monitor is to stand in a shop window exposed to the pavement and is to attract
attention during daylight hours, advertising monitors with a brightness of 2500 nits should always be taken into account.

If we do not comply with this rule, the advertising screen with a lower parameter will be invisible at 99%. For standard internal use, the parameter 350-700 nit is enough.

A separate category of advertising monitors are external screens, which are equipped with a protective housing. This housing protects the monitor matrix from dust, water, sun, extreme temperatures and from devastation.

Advertising screen size

Most likely, the first thing you think about will be the size of the advertising screen.

Today, almost everyone will find a diagonal that meets their expectations. Most often, the size of the advertising screen is adjusted to the distance from which this screen will be viewed. However, I advise against following the rules circulating on the network, which apply to the purchase of TV for the living room. From my experience (including customer experience) I know that bigger screen = better screen

If the customer does not have physical limitations of the space where he wants to install the

monitor, I will always recommend the maximum diagonal. I do this for two reasons.

The advertising screen by its nature is to attract attention, it is natural that if something is larger, we have a better chance that it will be noticed. Advice from me – remember, your client does not focus on the monitor so for him the screen will always be subjectively smaller than for you.

Another argument is the fact that the larger the advertising screen, the more content or larger images we can display. If you have a lot of content to upload, you have to fit it, but not at the expense of font size. In contrast, photography, such as food, will look better and more inviting if it is larger or on the same scale as the actual product.

I use the principle of limiting the size of the monitor only when dealing with touch screens. In the event that such a screen is not purchased for a conference or school room, the use of a 65” touch display may be uncomfortable. An interesting fact is that the 75”  screen, despite only a 20” difference in diagonal, has 2 times the display area of a 55”; monitor.

How long will your advertising screen last?

It is also worth considering how long the advertising screen will work. Most often it isdetermined by the hours of operation of our business. On the market we will find advertising monitors with continuous 16 or 24/7 modes. In this category, the choice of the right model is subjective. There are customers who use screens 12 hours a day, and yet they buy monitors adapted to round-the-clock work. It is important not to use 16/7 monitors for work that covers a much larger time range.

Advertising screen and resolution

The last important parameter that characterizes advertising monitors is resolution.

There are basically two product groups: Full HD (1920 x 1080p) and 4K (3840 x 2160p).

In most cases, Full HD resolution is sufficient for standard advertising needs for monitors up to 55”. However, in the event that we are looking for exceptional quality, you should definitely look for 4K solutions. Currently, manufacturers do not provide models above 55” without 4K resolution. Relax, 4K resolution does not force us to produce such content. The 4K monitor will successfully display the Full HD image.

The use of the highest resolution in smaller diagonals up to 55” also makes sense if we know that the displayed image will be very precise, i.e. maps, sketches or small fonts and will be viewed from a short distance.

I noticed that manufacturers are entering the stage of strong promotion of 8K resolution(7680 × 4320p), which is becoming more and more popular. As I described earlier, high resolution correlates with the size of the monitor. This type of image, in standard advertising solutions, will make sense in screens larger than 98”.

Monitor with built-in or external player?

Another important aspect mentioned at the beginning of the article is the division into a monitor with a built-in or external player.

The advantage of monitors with a built-in player and software is certainly the fact that such a screen, we hang on the wall and nothing else we have to connect. However, the disadvantage of this solution is that after about 2 years the built-in player may become obsolete and not respond to current technological needs, so you will be forced to buy an external player anyway.

Another significant disadvantage of such monitors is the issue of malfunction. In theory, the all-in-one advertising screen is less susceptible to malfunctions, but if one element isdamaged in it, the entire screen will be excluded from use.

The exception here are external screens. A much better solution in the context of stability of operation are screens in which the matrix and housing are assembled by the manufacturer and sold as a finished product from the factory. It is worth mentioning that in the case of all in-on screens, it is most often necessary to install software yourself (of course, the Integrator’s offer may also include such a service, but it is an unpopular sales model).

The whole argument can be summarized: the disadvantages of monitors with a built-in player do not apply to solutions based on external players. And vice versa – the disadvantages of all-in-one monitors are not noticed in monitors to which a player with software should be added.

It is difficult to indicate a favorite because each client has different needs and different models of cooperation will be satisfying for him.

How to choose an ad screen – summary

I would like to emphasize that in this text I omitted dozens of other parameters!

From my experience, however, I can say that in most cases they do not matter so much, because manufacturers of professional equipment no longer go below a certain level, determined by the number and type of inputs and outputs, vertical work, contrast or viewing angles at the level of 178 degrees, which is provided at the moment by 99% of LCD products.

In our offer you will find solutions from every category, so I invite you to contact our specialist, However, if you feel that you can take an independent step, we encourage you to fill in the  who, based on your specific goals and conditions, will help you show the way of action.
